bcolyerBulawayo Club
Someone who's been there, who can share some information.....or a few pictures of this famous old club - sure would appreciate it. I will be staying a night or so in early September. The web site looks nice....but pretty limited with information. Maybe this post should go under African Travel?? Thanks

I wrote a report about the Club in the thread below. Go there for another pictures, etc. I really enjoyed it. It has the old "club" atmosphere that you just can't create, but must be cultured over time.
When you arrive, the welcome desk has juice for you, an informed clerk, a porter waiting and suggestions for dinner (the Club has great food).
The long bar didn't have anyone there until about 8:00 p.m., but I met three Zim P.H.'s before the evening was over.
I think the meal I had with Biebs cost less than $70 (including 20% tip) with a drink for me before, wine with entre' and some cheese and shrimp before. It was very well prepared, beautifully presented and more than tasty!
I thought the whole experience was worth much more than the price.
Info about the Bulawayo Club included in "In the Cathederal of the Mopanes".18 August 2010, 13:47

JudgeGThe picture, left to right is:
Biebs (Jon Bieber), me, Sharon Strad, Phillip Stead. The Steads are the ones who run it now. They are "hands on" in their management.
Make sure you ask for a look at the basement. Some really cool old stuff is still down there.
