Other reports in the popular press have been dramatic and sensationalise the "slaughter of a million wild animals annually".

The press always sensualise everything.

How many cattle, sheep, pigs and goats are slaughtered every year to provide meat for the nation. If we do not take off the excess animals we will have an ecological disaster in a couple of years.

There is also a lot of benefits consuming game meat, for one they are not dosed with growth hormones and they are not being put on high growth feeds. Game eat the natural vegetation and you get natural non poisoned meat. It does wonders to your cholesterol count.

I cannot remember when last I ate meat out of a buchery.

We as hunters utilise a natural renewable resource. If some people have a problem with that, why do they wear leather shoes and jackets and why do they have natural wood furniture with leather seats.

I think this report had in mind to show how much economic value is attached to the direct hunting industry for South Africa.

The secondary economic benefits was not even touched in the report.
Só, the R3bn could be much more.

Wow! What great value hunting has for South Africa!

I stand to be corrected. I participated in a survey that was done by the University of Potchefstroom. A lot of very interesting facts come out of it. Yes a lot of money is spent by biltong hunters. I think this might be the same survey. Unfortuneately the press see the killing of a million animals and the hunters see a wonderful bush experience and a chance to get some hard earned biltong.

Lets face it, your own biltong is a lot better than beef biltong from the butcher beer
