I don't know if this is the right forum to post this under, but many of them ARE African big game, I suppose. Wink

Bizarre story though. And lions with a police issue sidearm? Interesting.

Well some local cops had quite an adventure last night, Final body count is 18 Tigers, 17 lions, 3 mountain lions, 6 black bear and 2 grizzly bears. Three leopards and a grizzly were still caged so they were shipped to the Columbus zoo.

I know that these comments are in jest but this is pretty horrible.

I'm glad that the guy blew his own brains out.

The whole thing is a nasty and unnecessary mess!

I have never understood the need / desire to own huge preditors / venomous snakes.

Just plain stupid!

Agree 1000000000000%. What a waste. Unfortunately, the cops had no choice but to kill them. Damn shame.

It is a shame.

now the smart thing to do would be to get a USFWS permit to tsell the hides / mounts on ebay and use the proceeds to pay back the Sheriff and local law enforcement for their time wasted and risk in dealing with this mess.

Can you imagine what a legally obtained Bengal Tiger skin / fully mounted animal would be worth???

A BUNCH!!!

Use Enough Gun
Word on the national news this morning was that they were just going to bury all of the animal carcasses on the property. No skinning, taxidermy, etc. etc. etc.

Why didn't the authorities tranquilize and relocate these animals? And why isn't PETA filing suit? Where was all the HSUS funds to protect the animals?

It's a shame they are rotting in a dirt hole as I type. Mass burial.... as the taxpayers pay for the overtime and expense, They buried 100,00.00 worth of skins to make the anti's not throw a fit.

I live less than five miles away and it was pure chaos in that area. A person who works for me lives just over the hill and had always heard the lions at night. That aftenoon and eveninig they only heard gunshots. Almost like opening day of deer season! I was hoping they would put out a call for hunters with the right 'tools' - I would have made use of my 375 H&H!!

I can't belive that the Cops were able to take care fifty head of Dangerous Game with out Double rifles and control round feed Mausers.

If the Cops were armed with like most are the kill around fifty head of dangerous game with .223rem,.40s&w, and shotguns. How can this be we all have read that these rounds will bounce of African Dangerous Game.

I'm not even going in to detail of the Bullshit I have read on this site about caliber and bullet choice.

The comment was made something like this, "Why would anyone want to keep large dangerous animals and venomous snakes?" Keep in mind that many animal collectors have very rare and endangered species in their collections so they help maintain the existence of these endangered animals by breeding them and trading them with other such collectors. City zoos have been able to acquire rare animals only because private collectors have them. If they go extinct in the wild the world will still have them in collections.
