David HulmeAnother great elephant bull with Zambezi Hunters
Good day,
I have just received this photograph of another fantastic elephant bull taken with Zambezi Hunters and PH Jonathan Hulme. It seems like Jonny is consistently taking good bulls. The client was Rich Papapietro from San Francisco area. Unfortunately I only have this one photo right now but will get pictures of both tusks posted ASAP. The tusks are symmetrical and about eighty pounds each, and Jonny's wife Nina could only hold up the one. Will get official weights posted soon.
Cheers David

BiebsIf you've ever met Johnny, it brings up the question...how did he ever land her? She doesn't appear to be wearing coke-bottle glasses!!!!!!

A.DahlgrenWow - it is posted on hunting report.. Congrats again to Jonny and the hunter !

notlimNina is not a dwarf, actually its the opposite from what I remember she's fairly tall . She's a very gracious host and super nice as well. As far as how Johnny landed that one all I can think is that his great sense of humour carried the day

-oh yeah I seem to remember she was asking me about laser Eye surgery while I was there so

thats definitely a very, very nice piece of ivory
and as part of a matched set wow

Hi Larry, yeah Mahenye, sorry I forgot to mention that....
butchloc, from what I hear, Jimmy continues going from strength to strength. I will see him soon and post a report and some pictures. I will post a borderline report tomorrow as well - all sorts of events have occurred and a change of strategy has come about. The main problem has been rain in the valley - we were bogged down for days and its only going to get worse the next while. Frustrating as we made it to Chikwenya before being stumped - so close to Kanyemba and the end of the Zambezi River Zim side. We have done about 800 odd kilometers and only have about 2200 to go. The whole expedition has actually been beset by problems and delays, but that's hardly surprising and we learn as we go. I guess the first time is always a learning curve. I already have a long list of things I would have done differently were we to start again. All part of the adventure I reckon. Anyway, I will post a proper report tomorrow.
Cheers for now, David

David HulmeDr Tim, as JohnHunt says, 'it could have been....'
I hope you and yours are well, Jonny sends his very best and looks forward to seeing you. And that goes for everyone - many thanks from Jon and he looks forward to seeing you all soon. He is on what must be his most relaxed hunt of the season right now - cleaning up some plainsgame quota with his sons, Daniel and Nicholas. I will pass on your message Kathi, thank you. Your Ethiopia pictures have me in awe.

Dr. Tim BurkhartDavid,
I just talked to Mike S. and he is back home now and had a great time with Jonny, but also came home leopardless and elephantless. I guess the rain came and really messed with them.
At least I am in great company. You know just because you buy your ticket and show up does not mean you will get what you came for. There are still things that money can't buy and that is why we love this sport. The challenge and friends we make a long the way make it all the better.
Keep us posted on your progress!
Dr. Tim

Buzz CharltonThat is one hell of a tusk! Thanks for the pic Dave- a little off the topic Dave- I know that you are near our river camp in Kanyemba and will then be passing our main camp in Dande on the border with Moz so if you need a dry bed and a shower drop me a line! Good luck

David HulmeHey Buzz, thanks for the offer bud. We were actually bounced at Ckikwenya - rain and other factors - and I'm just trying to decide what's the best course to take right now. I am keen to get the arid areas dusted whilst it is raining, you know? We might, therefore, tackle Gonarezhou/The western boundary now, when we set off again, and get those out of the way. Water has always been my biggest fear with this walk. I'm still not sure but that seems the wisest option right now, then we'll go back to Chikwenya and do what remains of the valley and the eastern highlands. something like that. Truth is we are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind time and found ourselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. Bit of a horses to have to chop and change from section to section, but I don't think it will detract from the story at all, just part of the adventure. Anyway, thanks for the offer Buzz, and we will get to Kanyemba at some point. Hopefully you or Myles will be there when we do, and then we catch up. Hope the season was a good one.
Cheers, Dave

David HulmeDr Tim,
Quite right - not everyone can connect every time. I understand Mike's hunt was rained out this year, but let's not forget what he achieved last season in Mahenye.....
Dave

Dr. Tim BurkhartDavid,
Yes, it is true...sometimes the bush is very generous, like with Mike's double on elephant bulls last year and my leopard before that. Sometimes the bush is not so giving, and you have to really
earn it. But no matter what the mood of the bush is, huting with Zambezi Hunters and with Jonathan Hulme especially, will always
exceed your expectations!!!
