Movies that I can't stop watching
How often do you watch:

"The Ghost and the Darkness"
"King Solomon's Mines"

The book "King Solomon's Mines" made me want to hunt giraffe, but actual exposure to both giraffe and white rhino has lessened the appeal, though I don't begrudge others the pleasure. "Ghost and the Darkness" just frustrates me with abysmal marksmanship, but it's certainly a pretty movie.

"Zulu" and "Zulu Dawn" probably belong in there somewhere.

I strongly redommend The Macomber Affair (along with the OP's above two, of course).

Some of these old movies were filmed in TZ. Some were based out of the Arusha Hotel. Lots of old photos on the wall.

I'm pretty sure I've watched Hatari on the plane rides of all my African hunts.

Did they have it on the planes movie channel or did you watch it on your lap top?

The only books that I would read again would be Corbett's and Nyschen's.I did not find the Tsavo book interesting. The Tsavo story is interesting but not the book or the movie.

Just saw Hatari a couple of nights ago on TV.

I used that movies theme music "ELEPHANT WALK"
for background music when editing a film of my safari in Zambia a few years ago.

Ebay has a vhs copy for $14.99. It's high priced but the only one out there. The acting sucks but a good story and a hot babe.

That movie is as difficult to find as Song of The South. With the white blonde lady slutting around with the black natives it's probably difficult to find for the same reason -- politically incorrect.

Zulu, The Naked Prey (I can't understand how anybody could fall asleep in watching it?!!) There are actual stopping shots on charging elephants at the beginning.

Nearly 40 years ago I had a job managing an appliance and electronics store. I remember selling VHS and Betamax machines when they were first introduced, typically for about $1,000 or a little more. A few years ago, on a family trip, we visited the Ford museum near Detroit. They had dioramas made to look like rooms from typical homes from past decades. There were a couple of the machines like those I had sold. It sure made me feel old. I'd still like to see that movie again though. I remember the tracker who was killed by an elephant when his wrist watch alarm went off. The watch came from Stuart Granger's (character's) friend, who was killed was by the elephant Granger was tracking. Damn technology!

Nope, it's sitting on my typewriter.

To think my favorite cartridge, the .375 H&H, is 105 this year...gives one pause to recognize real genius

You guys are missing what is probably the most iconic African movie besides Dead Pool - "The Gods Must Be Crazy". Tell me that you cannot watch it just once...
