Never Knew a Warthog Could Move So Fast!
Just going through some video from our recent trip and thought I'd share this Youtube clip. I had a no idea a warthog could jump the string this much! Thanks to a skilled tracking dog it had a happy ending.

How far was that? I didn't even see the arrow hit....must have been very low and back. He took off at the release but it seemed to arc quite a bit (slow arrow speed)?

36 yards with a 50-pound bow. The arrow caught him in the flank. Shot would have been perfect had warthog stood still. The good news is that it stayed in him for a couple hundred yards and really moved around a lot causing some very heavy bleeding.

Cool
I once read that that area between about 25-40 yards (36 being perfect for this) is sort of the sweet spot for string jump. Especially at 50 lbs!
They can't react quick enough at 20
They don't react as much to the noise at 40
He hears that Twang/Thump of the release/recoil and has plenty of time to react
So glad you all got him!

I have a Jack Britingham video of a bush pig jumping the string at 55 yards! Got it in the back near the kidneys and found the pig just before it got into the rock caves!

I honestly believe the blind acted as a bit of an amplifier for the noise of the bow and it all funneled out the window straight at the warthog.

That's a nice looking warthog, glad you got him! He seemed pretty motivated to get the heck out of there when he heard the arrow release!

Impala made me look like an idiot on my last hunt in Zim.

They were easily jumping the string. Thankfully mine ended up as all clean misses but I had three of them and they humbled this bow hunter.

I finally got it straightened out and shot two but it was pretty amazing to watch the slow motion video footage and see how far they were ducking the arrow.

I shoot a pretty fast bow, I couldn't believe they were able to do it.

Glad the recovery worked out for you guys, nice piggie!
