Die Ou JagterBack from Zim.
I returned yesterday from 15 days in Zim looking for Leopard and Buffalo.
I had no luck (as usual) on the cat. We only sat in the hide 4 of the 9 nights. As the conteration was on ole Mr Spots the only other shooting I did was for bait Impala, Oh I did one ram wrong. As it was for bait the only part of the animial I could see was the hind quarter and I knew the 338 would do the job even at that target I let go. When we walked up and started to load him we discovered I had castrated him - both were gone.
The Omay is gettting tougher for Buffalo as the preasure from the poachers it heavy. I got my Buffalo at 1:45 PM the last day of the hunt. I was pleased as finding hard bosses, in the Omay is getting very diffucult. He is 38" with hard boss and not hugh boss only about 12" across.
After we took the pictures and got the truck and staff in to load him on the Bakkie we started back to camp and in only a few hundered yards we found ourselves faced with a wall of fire as poeachers had set a grass fire in our path but we were able to drive thru as the grass is by and large not very high.
It was fun but tough hunting in the Omay not much flat land to track over.
As the concentration was on L & B the Buff was the only trophy taken.
Met some great people and had a very good and enlighting time.

safarimanCongratulations on the good Buff, sorry to hear about your not getting a Leopard. Have you considered, would you be interested in, hunting Leopard with hounds? Success rate is very high.

Michael RobinsonDOJ--Sorry to hear about your continuing tough luck with leopard.
Makes me sick to hear about the poaching--aggressive bastards, too, it seems. Still, we shouldn't be surprised, with half the country starving.
It does sound like you took a fine specimen of old bull cape buffalo, which must have been satisfying.
I'm looking forward to your photos.
