grahamzrDSC First Timer
Hello all,
I've been lurking on the forums for some time now and have finally run accross a question that the search function hasn't found.
I will be attending the DSC sow for the first time this year and was wondering what is the preferred transaction method? Cash, Check, Credit Card?

DrScottDepends on what you are buying.
For entrance to the show you can use cash or credit card.
Most vendors/exhibitors can do any method of payment but may charge extra for credit card use.

bwana cecilWhen booking a hunt, the operators I have dealt with have taken my check for a deposit.
There is plenty of time for the check to clear (or not) to know whether to procede further for the operator.
When dealing with vendors, nothing works better than CASH.
With some of the vendors you can haggle a little on price, others are cut & dried on their prices.
Haggling over prices can be fun, just don't be offensive, & if they won't haggle, respect them & pay the price quoted if it's within reason.

lavacaFor most hunts it's going to be wire transfer, in my experience. Goods, credit card works fine.

SafariSeanAs an Agent(TheSafariConnection.com) I always prefer a personal check for a safari deposit. Another user commented that a wire transfer would/could be used but I would caution against this when countries like Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Zambia are involved. I would always recommend using a debit or credtit card that way you know you are covered for the bigger balance of your hunt should any problems or discrepancies arise. This is 2012 and any reputable operator should accept cards even if they do add on the fees. While I wont be at DSC I would recommend that you use one of the fine agents available there( Adam Clements is great), in most cases they can hold money in escrow for a major hunt like elephant or take your card info here. One thing about US agents, they are always here in the US and are far easier to talk with than most PH's .In many cases you will find better deals than you can get booking directly just thru sheer diversity.

lavacaSafariSean's comment is true, if you are using an agent.
