GunsCoreJoof Lamprecht Dies (from Hunters Namibia FB page)
Namibian conservationist and Professional Hunter, Joof Lamprecht, passed away in Windhoek on the morning of the 31st August 2015 at the age of 67.
Joof was a published author and outspoken advocate for selective, ethical and sustainable trophy hunting as the most sensible conservation method in our country and beyond. He was a pioneer in establishing dedicated wildlife areas on previous cattle farming land, and owned one of Namibia’s largest and most game-rich and specie-diverse private wildlife reserves.
Joof Lamprecht established Hunters Namibia Safaris, widely regarded as Namibia’s premier safari outfitter, in 1984 with his wife Marina. They recently won the much-coveted Dallas Safaris Club’s international outfitter of the year award.
Those who knew Joof well, describe him as having lived his life in techni-colour, always dancing to the rhythm of his own heartbeat. When a good friend recently asked whether he had a ‘bucket list’, his response was ‘heck NO – I have lived well and fulfilled my every dream!’
Joof was a devoted family man and philanthropist, who established remarkable relationships with his staff members and the local community.
Joof is survived by Marina and their 3 children, Jozef (Jofie), Michelle and Hanns-Louis as well as three-year old grandson, Mason.
He will be buried in a private ceremony on the family wildlife sanctuary in Eastern Namibia.
Marina and the Lamprecht family will continue with Joof's legacy of conservation, hunting and hospitality - Hunters Namibia Safaris will live on.
STAY IN THE FIGHT!

Dave FulsonSo very sorry to get this news earlier today. Another fine man, hunter, and dedicated conservationist gone before his time. My deepest sympathy for his family. Joof cast a long and loving shadow over the safari business he established, and he will be missed by so many friends from all corners of the globe.
Very sad news of a good mans passing.

MJinesCondolences.
Really nice article on Joof Lamprecht in the book Africa's Legendary Professional Hunters. He is asked the question, is there anything looking back that he would have done differently, to which he responds: "I have always done it MY WAY and have absolutely no regrets." A pretty fitting epitaph.

MARK H. YOUNGJoof was the 3rd PH I hunted with. He was definitely a unique character and extremely confident in his opinions. Condolences to Marina and the family. The industry has lost one of a kind.

bwana cecilMy wife & I were talking about Joof & Marina yesterday over lunch.
Our first 2 safaris were with them & what great memories were made.
I had the greatest of respect for him & his memory will be with me forever.
I started to email him a couple of weeks ago just to see how he was doing, now I regret that I didn't.
A great man has left us & I for one am glad I had the chance to walk in his footprints.

surefire7I am so sorry to hear this. I first read about him through Craig Boddington's writings. I thought perhaps I'd hunt with him some day. Perhaps now with his son...
I think Namibia lost one her finest sons today.

Barry GroulxJoof Lamprecht was a gentleman and embodied everything that makes a hunter a conservationist.
I can't find any titles for him, but the obituary says he is a published author. Does anyone know any of his books?
Thanks.

Joof wrote several magazine articles, but I don't believe he wrote a book.
I wish he had written a book, I would certainly have bought it.
Maybe Marina will now write one about him.
He was truly a conservationist, I don't know how many times he told me he wanted his land to look as much like it did when God created it.
We always stopped to pick up anything he saw that did not belong there.
The land had previously been a cattle ranch so we regularly found scraps of wire that were scattered along the roads. His & Johnnies keen eyes were not just looking for game, but also anything that was out of place.
He was my friend & mentor & I shall miss him.
