MJinesDave Fulson: Dark and Dangerous Format
I saw an episode today that was a montage of three hunts, lion in Tanzania, LDE in Cameroon or CAR, and leopard in Zim. I like that format. I also like the fact that the shows are continued over from one episode to the next to hold your interest over. Thanks for trying something different from the typical outdoor show fare.

bwana cecilI also enjoyed it.
The shot Frederic (hope I got that right) made on the 2nd impala was impressive.

surefire7I ,too, really like seeing three hunts in one show. Yesterday was my first chance to watch this show ever, and I was surprised and delighted with the new format. Can't wait to watch the continuation next week.

pagosawingnutI like the show. Not the typical hunting show and Ivan does a pretty good job. I think I could do it better given a chance but......

Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

larryshoresI liked it. It was a hell of a shot on that 3rd impala.

The BLBGreat show to Dave and crew. Is there not a demand/advertising base to have this show be 1 hour?

And a 1 hour show would be twice as good.

The differences are these shows are made by HUNTERS.
The rest are made by those who mistakenly think they are hunters .
And, let us not forget one important fact.
These shows are made by AR members!

Just imagine how long would some of the idiots producing so called hunting shows would last with you lot here!

Dave FulsonHappy new years guys! Thanks for our entire team for the nice words on the new show. It is a hard one to edit, but our production wizard Christy Funke is doing a hell of a job on it I think. Please see the thread TRACKS for our explanation as to where Tracks Across Africa went. Believe me, Tracks is alive and well, but D&D is just our shot at a new , fast moving format that we hope the viewer will really enjoy. Keep giving us your thoughts as we really listen! Cheers and hope to see you at the shows!

MartyFirst, I did really enjoy episode one!
Giving the clients more of a voice is a nice touch. It helps us get our Walter Mitty on.
I kind of have mixed feelings about the format. Jumping between hunts seems like a lot of the "reality based" shows on presently. Think "Pawn Stars" where it takes the whole episode to find out about the first item. It all plays into our collective shortened attention spans.
That being said, I also would really prefer a one hour format. I don't particularly like cliffhangers to induce me to watch the next episode that I was going to watch anyway. It will make me more prone to DVR the shows and watch them in batches. That also will make me more prone to fast forward through the commercials, and I doubt this is good for the sponsors or producers.
All in all, strong work by the producers, and Ivan is fun to watch as usual. Ivan, I love your enthusiasm!

Dave i am bit confused - you have to buy time on the outdoor network? Dont know the industry so if it divulges any proprietary info please ignore questions.
Also another question - in shows where there is a civilian/client hunter - regular person/ar member hunting i assume they bear a good bit of the safari cost.
Thanks,
Mike

Rick RI watched it on the DVR last night, I enjoyed the format too. It seemed to me that the clients had more camera time even though they were sharing the show with two other parties.

I think hunting shows with real people hunting, no fist pumping after each kill and limited theatrics is my kind of hunting tv.
Will figure a way to find and record your show. I am getting a little outdated by technology.

What's your point? A house is an overstated luxury. When you go to Africa you stay in a tent and talk about how cool it is . . . buy a tent, sell the house and give us an hour of TAA.

boarkillerThanks especially to Ivan for the best hunting presentations in his shows.
They never get old.
Just like a good book. You can watch them over and over again.
You are absolutely right Saeed. The shows that are well made are done by true hunters and that's where the difference shows.
Majority hunting shows are more like Huntlywood.
You watch them for 5 min and switch the channel

rxgremlinDave,
Great job on the new format. I thought how you integrated the sponsorship into the beginning of the episode was clever.
Keep up the good work!

Rob HaughtExcellent show Dave. Also like the format. Thank you for the new show.

GusteauxDave & Ivan:
I've watched two episodes now and I do like the new format. I do have one possible idea.
Since the show follows three different hunts in different locations what if in the first segment you use it to introduce a "new" hunt/location. Then in each subsequent show that "new" segment moves to the middle and then final segment and you introduce a new "new" hunt location into the first and so on.
The general idea is that each weekly episode starts a new hunt, follows the middle of the previous weeks hunt and end with the final episode that started two weeks/shows ago.
The only downside I see from the current format and the idea I described above is when it comes to "re-runs". Unless the re-runs are shown in the same sequence each show would seem a bit disjointed.
One of the best parts of this show and the TAA show after Ivan came on-board is the show's focused on different hunters and different PH's and it wasn't, as much as I do like watching Ivan, "all about Ivan", but he is still there as the "host" and ties the entire program together without monopolizing the airtime.
Good on all of you.
