Alan BunnBooking a hunt in Zimbabwe
I just got this in from Sally Bown. With the conventions starting soon, this is good advice to follow.
Alan
Dear Hunters
PRECAUTIONS TO BEAR IN MIND WHEN BOOKING A HUNT IN ZIMBABWE
With the 2007 hunting season coming up and SCI and other hunting fairs being held in January, for your own protection we would suggest you check on the US government website for those Zimbabwe persons with whom American citizens should not do business. As you may know, you would open yourselves up to prosecution in your own country and we would prefer that you enjoy your hunting in Zimbabwe without unpleasant aftermaths.
Check website:
www.treas.gov/offices/enforcement/ofac/programs/zimbabwe/zimb.shtml Check also with US Fisheries and Wildlife for areas where ownership of the land is not grounded in international law, and has been re-allocated, as trophies taken off such areas are regarded as 'stolen goods' and hunters taking such trophies could be liable for prosecution. Trophies could also be refused entry into USA by U.S.Fisheries and Wildlife.
You can also check with African Hunter on fishunt@zol.co.zw.
Or check with the US Embassy in Harare e-mail: GerardM@state.gov
If in doubt discuss the problem with our representative on the ZPHGA stands at SCI numbers 2754 and 2756.
Despite all the apparent red tape, Zimbabwe is still a good hunting country. Hope to see you next year.
Yours sincerely
Sally Bown

Here are the links to the names of the individuals in Zimbabwe that are on the US Governments list:
Executive Order 13391 - Blocking Property of Additional Persons Undermining Democratic Processes or Institutions in Zimbabwe Specially Designated Nationals of Zimbabwe Chart - March 2004 PDF iconThis is crucial information everyone needs to have to make sure there are no problems when booking their safaris during the upcoming conventions.

Use Enough GunSCI has published it as well, and has provided updated information on owners, operators and/or others that are on the US Govt's prohibited list, along with the warning from the US Govt in dealing with these peopole. Their additions, updates, etc. were in their last Safari Times Newspaper.
