samwiseBuff and Sable in Zimbabwe
Well I am busting to tell someone so here it is. My partner and I have booked for Sept 1 to Sept 18, 2007 with Buzz Charlton( our PH will be Alan.) The first 4 days in Chirisa for Buff then on to Kwekwe for Sable and PG. My partner will bow hunt PG in Kwekwe. Any comments/thoughts /advise( or folks who have hunted either area) will be much appreciated. Now the sweet feeling of anticipation and preparations!!!

GanyanaAlan is a darn good PH, and both areas are good for what you are after.

SpringI would be flexible on your number of days in Chirisa. I hunted there 3 years ago and needed 5 full days to get my bull. We had plenty of close calls and saw lots of buffalo that could have ended in success earlier, but things happen in the swirling midday winds of Africa that can impact your hunt. Getting two good buff in 4 days may or may not happen.
The quickness of your success will also be impacted by the degree of poaching the area has experienced. The poachers were busy before I was there and the buffalo, as a result, were very skittish.
hunted in KweKwe in 2004 after taking two cape buffalo in the valley. Shot a very nice sable and saw a bigger one after I did. There was lots of plains game in the midlands then on rhino conservancy ranches. We hunted on Roy Smalls ranch with Rory Muil. Make sure you take enough time for buffalo as thats the fun part. Once you move to the midlands although there were no high fences its not as wild and you wont see buffalo or elephant, and only the odd lion. Plenty of leopard in some spots.
