Cartridge belt for .505 Gibbs
Hi,
I am looking for a cartridge belt or wallet for my .505 Gibbs.

Saw that Cabelas sells Boyt Canvas/Leather Cartridge Belt that looks very nice and the price is a bargain!

However it only holds cartridges up to .416 Rigby size.

Has any here at AR experiences with this belt and 'full grown' (.505 Gibbs) cartridges?

Other recommendations?

Cheers

Husky email Texas hunt Co. They have ammo holders which should work very well...
I have used them for my 450#2 cartridges...
He makes them in 5 holders and a new 10 cartridge holder... Have had them in Africa and work super...
Take notice of space in between shells... the new one not pictured is a 10 shell holder and not the two tiered one...

The boyt canvas cartridge belt is what I used for my 07 hunt with my 505 Gibbs. Worked just fine. I cut the cartridge holder in half and put a shell in every second loop (more for my fat fingers than anything).

If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."

Hi friends!
Thanks for fast reply!
Couldn't resist idahoelk101 suggestion!
Quite a deal.

Will collect my .505 Gibbs at my gunsmith shop in end January, then practice for PAC elephant hunt later on 2009!

I have a Westley Richards leather 10 round belt/cartridge holder for my 505. Works great. A little expense though.

Try Murray's Custom Leather at www.morrayscustomleather.com. If his regular catalog items don't have what you are looking for, he will customize to your needs. Very high quality and good customer service.

+1 on Murray's....top notch stuff. I've used his holders for 450/400, 470 and 450 NE and have one now for my 500 Jeff. I cut the little bottom "flaps" off so I can push them up easier.....works great.

For a belt case or shell holder for the 505 Gibbs, I personally use US Military 10 round Shotgun Ammo case which is set up for ALICE Clips. Slids right on my belt, holds up to ten rounds, and is available at better surplus supply houses. The OD color is nice. The nylon is light and easy to clean. Elastic inside the case holds each case from contact or rattle. Find it at US Cavalry or other such store.

Husky,

If yiu are looking for nostalgic, yet fully functional gear, I'd recommend Dick Murray's products, or Westly Richards offerings - I have used both for years...

...If you want high-performance, lightweight, no-maintenance stuff, use ours...

All the above work great and are excellent values... thumb
