South African Sable Smugglers Sentenced

Three South African Accused, sentenced.
Three South Africans who facing charges of illegally exporting sables to South Africa and using an undesignated route have been sentenced. The three Hewitt Edwin and others appeared before Mat South Provincial Magistrate, Willard Mafios Moyo at Beitbridge Magistarte Court. They pleaded guilty as charged and were sentenced to
Count 1 US$300 fine/6 months in prison
Count 2 US$2 000.00 Fine/3 months in prison.
3 vehicles and three trailers, sables and dart gun forfeited to the state.
Count 3 US$300 fine/6 months in prison.
Meanwhile Blessing Gundani prosecuted while Alex Mabasasa of Mabasasa Legal Practitioners of Harare represented the accused. The accused have since paid their fines and are in the process of going back to their country of origin, South Africa.

Under the circumstances, vehicles and firearms/dart guns being accessories to the crime are subject to confiscation by the State and that was indeed concluded.

What about the aircraft?

If this is the same sable incident with the PH for the Cecil affair then they were probably the ones i saw in the road side boma at Bronkhorst's 'game farm' near Hwange.

I would presume so Stu, as that is the only smuggling story that I have heard of recently . Don't see anything mentioned about him though.

Bronkhorst wasn't charged as far as I know. Charges were withdrawn before plea, which means they can be re-introduced, or not, possibly for a fee.
