Angola: Environment Ministry Releases Guidebook On Country's Mammals

Luanda — The Ministry of Environment will this Friday release in Luanda the first guidebook on Angolan Mammals and the book on the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
ANGOP learnt from a communiqué of the institution that the release of the guidebook is part of the commemorations of the World Biodiversity Day to be marked on May 22 and the activities of the Project for Strengthening the Angolan Peace Process, through the Integration of Ex-Soldiers in Measures of Protection and Management of Conservation Areas.
The project is being implemented by the Unit of Biodiversity Management and Co-ordination of the Ministry of Environment, in cooperation with the Institute for the Social Reintegration of Ex-Soldiers (IRSEM).
The project also aims at reinforcing the management and inspection of conservation areas in Angola, through the training of human resources and reintegration of former militaries in the process of rehabilitating and managing the Angolan biodiversity.
The event will be attended by environment minister, Fátima Jardim, by the German ambassador to Angola, director generals of the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) in Luanda, National Institute of Biodiversity of the Ministry of Environment, director of the Institute for the Reintegration of Ex-Soldiers (IRSEM), university students and other guests.
