There only a few 450 Rigby users on this forum. One of them is OldSarge. If you PM the sarge, he may provide you with the info that you want.

Try Hornady 500 gr. bullet with 105-106 gr. of IMR 4350. In mine this gives 2284-2330 fps @ 5770-6000+ ft.lbs. Basically, these are the same ballistics that any sensible person would use in a .450 Lott with the added advantage of low pressure and the panache that only Rigby can give. It is a thumping load on game. Both Jim and I have used the round on buffalo and it knocks them down! Jim's did get back up again but it was one weak and wobbly potroast. The recoil is manageable but does take some getting used to, like any big boomer. Sadly, I will likely be selling mine in an effort to rationalize my battery. Anyone interested?

I had my 460 GA rechambered to 450 Dakots, and my data should be very similar to a 450 Rigby.

Using dakota brass and Federal mag primers, I got following from my short 21 1/2 inch barrel:

40 degrees, RL-15.

500 gr Kodiak or 500 TBBC (watch ocl on TBBC, its only about 3.5 vs 3.625 for Kodiak).

94-96-98 gr 2350, 2400, 2450 fps.

450 gr North Fork.

96-98-100 gr 2464 fps, 2505 fps, 2547 fps.

400 North Fork.

98-100-102-104 gr 2558, 2632, 2666, 2702 fps.

Similar velocity with 400 and 450 Barnes monos with plus 2 gr.

this is an unbelted, non-freakish shouldered 460 weatherby. It's loaded to SANE velocities and pressures.

excellent, on paper

This is the round I feel Ruger & Hornady should have legitimised. It is the perfect partner to there .4i6 Rigby, it matches better than than the .458 lott & .416 Rigby and they had the rifle/action for it.
