Looks like have discountinued these. They were on sale, maybe close out, a few weeks ago and now they are not on their website. I liked them because they came in a tall size and all cotton. They still have the polyester blend. Hopefully it is just a problem with their supplier and they will get the all cotton version back online.

nkonkaIf they did discontinue them it would be a bummer. It's my favorite shirt to wear over there, or here for that matter.

DesertRamI actually prefer the poly blend trail shirts with big, but fewer, pockets. They don't wrinkle, seem cooler, and seem to dry faster. No trouble with ironing the old fashioned way on my two trips like with some synthetics. I wear them frequently when (not bow) hunting here too since I have them and I'm not in Africa.

OldHandgunHunterThat's a real shame -- it's getting harder and harder to find 100% cotton safari shirts and, for me, there's no substitute.
I expect that I'll still be able to find them, I just won't be getting them for $40 anymore.

I have been very pleased with the Boyt Safari shirts. After 3 trips to Africa, they look good, launder well in the camps, are 100% cotton and are made to last.

I gave mine away to the "Learner" PH when I left camp. When I got home I had a feeling I should get some replacements and bought 3 more.
I really enjoy them but no more wearing them around the house.

spoke to Cabela's Corporate today about another matter. Brought up the Serengeti shirt at the end of the conversation. Bottom line is the Serengeti is alive and well. it's in their fall clothing catelogue. Corp Communications dude says if they ever get rid of them he's leaving!
If you get the big bound book from them they are on page 307.

Mike SmithThat is good to hear. I thought that might be the case. It seems to me they try to clear out excess inventory this time of year but that the shirts are back in the next catalog. At least that seems to have been the pattern before. In this financial environment who knows though and I never try to figure out the logic of any corporate type.

I have not tried Long Grass shirts yet but probably will. I prefer all cotton even though it has some drawbacks to synthetic. I have seen Melody's shooting sticks. They are first rate. She was kind enough to donate a set to Detroit SCI. Everyone who saw them liked them.

470drshooterJust finished my Plains game hunt in Namibia at Jan Oelofse hunting lodge. Used both Cabela's Safari series shirts with thick thorn bush conditions and they worked great and had good protection. Also used Bass pro shops Bob Timberlake pants which also worked to protect from thornbush and other sticky plant thorns encountered.
Recommend both.

Technically speaking they are not epaulettes. They are shoulder straps (or in French a
passant) to which epaulettes or shoulder boards are attached. Although normally considered as ornamental for officers clothing, they do have one practical feature which is that anything carried on a strap, like a rifle or binoculars or camera, won't slip off the shoulder as easily because the button acts as a stop.

NitroXHopefully they get a better olive/green shirt like the older version. The "current" version green ("two colour") is too shiny and light coloured.
One of my older ones which has probably fallen apart since (from use)!
If they did discontinue I have some stockpiled.

Agreed, although the first one I bought had most of the front buttons fall off. I had them resewn and bought another one. I think the first one was an aberration. I've gotten three safaris out of mine, from 2005 through this year, and I often wear them casually, as well.

Idaho Sharpshooterman, one look at the Boyt clothing and pricing; and I know where SCI gets their line.
Thoe of you who have been to Africa; does anyone really use the bullet loops on the shirt? They look handy, but a dozen rounds in 416 Rigby or bigger calibers would weigh you down, IMHO.

I settled on the Under Armour Guide gear shirts and the Beretta shooting shirts. The UA being my favorite.

MJinesSome like redheads, some like blondes. I like the TAG shirts, they are light, cotton and colors are good. If there is a gripe it is that sometimes the buttons are not sewn on good.

BriceRegarding the little shoulder thingies, I replace the little button on the right shoulder with a nice big one. Keeps my sling (not a carry strap) from sliding off.
