Another tipping question-charters and ground transportation?
Apologies, this is not meant to be the usual tipping “discussion†but just a simple question. A historical search of the Forums yielded no specific information...

If you used a charter flight and/or ground transportation to get to your safari (especially if they were independent to the PH/Safari company), did you tip the pilot or driver and if so approximately what percentage?

Thanks for any advice

Thanks

Paul

My-O-My, where does the free money end!

Although, I must admit the charter flyer we had in 2004 was more useful and handled the exit of our firearms and bagagge in Harare so smooth it made one feel he wanted to be much more useful than a lot of camp hanger ons I have seen.

I Charge a set rate for my services yet I have been tipped 6 out of ten times, admittedly I do a lot more than just meet and great, charter etc.

I generally end up going out of my way all the time, but that is the standard of my service.

Last month I got a $500 tip for helping a guy out whose ammo was left behind in the states.

But no it is not the norm to tip for transportation services unless you feel that the chap deserves a tip.

The only time I tip is when I charter the plane myself and I have exclusive use of the plane.

Otherwise, no tipping.
