FARMERS in the Mangetti area of the Oshikoto Region are complaining about lions, presumably escaped from the Etosha National Park, that are killing their livestock.
Farmer Johannes Itoolwa says three lions killed two of his calves last week before moving on to another farm where they killed three more cattle.
The farmers want the authorities to move the lions back into the park or kill them.
Evalisto Nghilai, the Chief Warden in the North, confirmed over the weekend that an unknown number lions had escaped from Etosha.
He said one of the lions had been shot dead and another one might have been wounded and might still be in the area.
Besides lions, villagers in the Oshana, Omusati and Oshikoto regions are also complaining about elephants destroying their mahangu fields.
