why doesn't somebody shoot and mount the damn thing? I haven't read the whole article yet but the idiot that sent the update to the original author on Jan 6 said it was a good thing that they had spotted Gustave again because he was feared dead. what is wrong with people?

I wonder how fast it would be killed if it ate a white person?
At any rate I imagine quite a few PH's are itching for a chance to take a lucky hunter in for that one!

Gustave: Have You Seen This Crocodile?
A cold-blooded serial killer is on the loose. His name is Gustave. He's 20 feet long (6 meters), weighs 2,000 pounds (907 kilograms), and stands accused of devouring hundreds of people. Writer Michael McRae and photographer Bobby Model travel to war-torn Burundi to confront the man-eater

How right you are about that question! I only spent one month in Africa - and learned within less than 24 hours about the crocs. (Don't come closer than 10 feet to any waterhole) My PH expressed the opinion that the media only reported when white people got killed by creatures in the wild. I think he was right -based on how I was taught to behave in a one month living in "the bush". I have never seen any figures published by such organizations as the UN that ever mention how many people are killed by crocs and hippos - to say nothing of how many locals are killed by snake bite, enraged buffs nursing a small game wire snare, the "majestic" elephant (favorite of all the TV "wild life documentaries") -who kill a native farmer rushing out to save his corn field - or who just charges for the hell of it towards locals. They are just far away folk - so it doesn't really happen.

It's nice to see that the Greens have such a high regard for human life.
