Does anyone know about taking handguns through Dulles? The airport is in Virginia which should be OK, but it is actually run by the federal government which is definitely NOT OK.

Jim,

Dulles and Reagan National are both run by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority -- a consortium of DC, Maryland and Virginia.

They do allow transportation of handguns by ticketed passengers, and I have done so several times at both airports.

Pittsburgh or Charlotte as USAir hubs would be better than any of the ones mentioned above.

It's United, not US Air.

It is both United and US Airways in the US.

Star Alliance web page

Sorry but United and USair are not the same....

They are seperate companies entered into a code share agreement. As are all of the STAR alliance partners. The SAA flights will code share through UAL at a UAL Domicle which are

JFK,EWR,IAD,DEN,ORD,LAX,SFO & SEA.

The last comapny news release I read said that the SAA filghts will depart daily from IAD (Dulles).
