SevensCuddly, friendly, kind Mother Nature
I know everyone here knows Mother Nature is cruel and that death by rifle is probably one of the more "kind" deaths a wild animal could encounter. Maybe a few will peacefully die in there sleep, but the majority will die of starvation, disease, or by predators. It's the last item on the list that inspires this post.
Stumbled upon this video of a hyena "taking down" an impala. Reminds me of the line from Jurassic Park where Alan Grant says, "... the point is, you are alive when they start to eat you."
Skip to the 50 second mark of the video.
Hyena taking down impala video.30 September 2019, 09:05
fulvioSevens:
This particular footage, gory as it may be, could be considered quite a rarity as Hyenas are not renown hunters but more as the ultimate scavenger.
Wild dogs are the ones that take the prize as they hunt daily and need more than just the one Impala to feed the pack.
While their method of hunting down their prey can be compared to surgical precision, the dismembering of the "patient" is quite something else.

376 steyrThis video was shown on AR a short time back. What it shows is a hyena that has taken over a female leopard's quarry that she had apparently very nearly killed. The hyena did all the damage before the impala finally got it's breath back and appears to be in shock. But a hungry pack of hyenas is a force to reckon with, equal to any pack of wolves.
