I have worn Willis and Gieger, Filson custom clothes and blue jeans. The hunts were remembered for the place, the people, the game and a couple o memorable shots. The clothes made no diference whatsoever. Wear what you like, but remember the best parts of the safari have nothing to do with wardrobe.

Looks like my Sunday clothes! The ol' Wait a bit thorns might have some fun with that ensemble.....but it looks awesome!

I was worried about the thorns and twigs tearing the pants and asked the tailor what he thought.I was told not to worry and that the pants fabric is really tuff.I don't know about the shirt.I've had similar cotton pants made by him for casual/dressy wear and I really like the look and fit so much that I don't mind paying for them.It's something that you really like wearing.I feel I wasted my money on the cheap stuff(TAG)

. The winter cotton fabric is something else-thick,flat,velvety,warm and comfortable.

Comfort and resistance to thorns is about all that matters in safari clothing. Beyond that wear whatever blows your skirt up -- or not.

With that color scheme....I assume an early season hunt is in order? A bit bright for August in the Luangwa Valley.
I live in Florida....and live in linen from May-Sept.....very comfy.

Those shirts are identical in style and colour to some I had made in Dubai. The only difference is that I used best quality egyptian cotton. I got hold of the white shirting fabric, dyed it the required shade - which was perfect for a lowveld July. There are shirt makers here that will do a decent make up job for just $10.
If I get a thorn rip (and I didn't get one yet) it is a simple job to stich the hole or for ten bucks each just give them to the camp staff at the end of the trip.

Muletrain

Looks nice.

Being left handed I was thinking of having a couple of shirts made with a pad on the left side and two shell loops on the right side, plus squared off at the bottom so it will look nice untucked.

Thanks,Muletrain.I asked that this one be made in the same way you describe-square on the bottom to wear untucked.This shirt is made that way but long enough to be tucked in.I was thinking that if I chose gray and charcoal instead and did not put the loops on the shoulders,it could be worn on other casual occasions.It seems that long sleeves and a shirt that tucks in is the way to go,according to this tailor and I agree.

Very nice. One comment though; I have had several shirts like yours with shoulder straps and I always end up cutting them off. The button holding the strap tends to hurt my shoulder when carrying a gun for many hours.

I agree-I would've made a good sex scene trainer.There talking about speedy double rifle shooting,just one thread below.I'll go there now and tell them how fast you are at that!
