FjoldCan the Zim outfitters survive another bout with hyper inflation?
It looks like with Mugabe printing his own money that it may be 2008 all over again.
How many people would be willing to send deposit money there?

cal pappasYes. Hunters will do well as will anyonew who has access to foreign currency. During the shortages and the trillion dollar notes, the PHs I knew survived fairly well as they had money and clients to bring them items from the states.

PoyntmanI know Zim TRIES to make them all keep their money in Zim banks for this reason but don't really all the smart ones keep nearly all their money in the US or elsewhere? Can anyone give more intelligent context to this?
It's hard to imagine your money essentially disappearing before your eyes like this if its in a Zim bank

Barry GroulxZimbabwe is a kleptocracy, and the desperation is heightening with "elections" coming up next year - though they could announce the results now.
Outfitters who can sell overseas in real money, and who also operate in neighbouring countries, will do OK.

Opus1And no one in Africa seems to ever learn from the failures of every other Marxist government in history.
Doing more of the same and expecting a different outcome....

bwanamrmMarxism, socialism doesn't really matter. It is just about making their leaders/despots billionaires. Let the masses eat cake!
Mugabe himself has done quite well, thank you very much!
On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
