Uganda hunt plans in final stages
For several months I have been researching and planning a hunt in the Karamajo region of Uganda.
Previously there has been a post with an email from Nigel Thiesen about the first hunt in the region since 1963. I talked with the hunter several times before and after the hunt and now am moving forward.
John Tolmay and a partner have the entire Karamajo region of Uganda to hunt. I met with John in person finally in Dallas after many hours of phone conversations. John's operation gives 75% of the trophy fees to the local residents and 25% to the gov't.

I have also talked with Brian Hern, the last outfitter in Uganda who left in 1963, several times. Mr. Hern's description of the Karamajo region is breathtaking!

This hunt will concentrate on buffalo, which are plentiful, and searching an area that no ones knows anything about. Hopefully I will have a tremendous story to tell.

Mike, as I said in Dallas, that sounds like a tremendous opportunity and I look forward to hearing about the trip. Congratulations and good luck. Good to see you again this past weekend.

You are very lucky to have an opportunity like this. I will eagerly await your report and hopefully a boatload of pictures of the area.

Is that the same Brian Herne who wrote "White Hunters'?

Sounds like a wonderful adventure. What is on the menu game wise?

Yes, it is the same Mr. Herne that wrote "White Hunters" and "Uganda Safari"
The main animal is Cape Buffalo with Jackson's Hartebeest and what ever else can be found.

Very cool, I have read the one I mentioned but not the other. I will try to run it down to read this winter.....

MLinsay,
will you be hunting the Karenga or Amudat community wildlife areas?

Mike you lucky rascal... I keep thinking about the possibilities of this hunt. Area largely untouched in the last several decades, some huge buff reported in the area in the few reccies into the concession, a few weeks to just explore and hunt, true adventure, my friend, true adventure! Thank goodness you are from Louisiana and not picky about what you eat! Need a gunbearer?

BTW, good luck and straight shooting. I look forward to your report!
