At least in Corbett's time, they shot the leopard. The idiots in India now would want to kill more people than put the leopard down.

We apparently have two cats doing the killing there. A 55 year old man was killed early yesterday morning and an 18 year old man was killed late the night before. That's two people killed in probably less than 12 hours. No leopard sized cat could be that hungry. They should have dogs missing too. I've heard it said that some leopards will specialize on taking certain pray, for example prefering warthogs or monkeys over anything else. Maybe Corbett's maneater prefered humans.
