<Jagermeister>african hunter
Has anyone heard, or does anyone have access to a book called African Hunter that was written by Baron Bror von Blixen? I believe this was in Capstick's series of edited books, but the one he edited was translated from Swedish I think. I want the Swedish copy, if I could get it. I have searched high and low but to no avail. Perhaps it might be a common item in Sverige, no?
Tack och goddag

<Jagermeister>Yes, they made a movie about Karen Blixen's experiences. Robert Redford played another real life person, Denys Finch Hatten. Bror von Blixen was played by another guy.
I know that the real Blixen write a book about his afrikan hunting experience though.

<Jagermeister>Thanks for the help Herb. I'll likely get that Capstick series book as well.
Ray, I don't know whether or not Hatari Times, does back issues, but I'd be interested in reading anything there is on Bror Blixen, and if you know off the top of your head what issue you've seen anything on him in, let me know.
Thanks

SaadI have book 'White Hunters, The golden age of African Safaris' by Brian Herne. It has a chapetr on Bror Blixen, his wife and Finch Hatton. This is a nice book listing almost all white hunters from the start of last century uptill 80's, I think.

<Bjorn Klappe>Baron Bror von Blixen-Finecke from Sweden, was one of the most famous PH:s in East Africa during 1920-30:ties. He wrote two books, both in Swedish, "Nyama" and "Brev frn Afrika" (Letters from Africa). He died in a car accident 1946.
A biography of Blix is written by his godson,Ulf Aschan (Ulf is born in Kenya by Swedish parents and still lives in Nairobi. Ulf was also a very wellknown PH). The book is called "Baron Blixen" and is written in Swedish but I know it has been translated into English, I have seen copies of it in Nairobi.
If you want more reading about Bror Blixen try to get your hand on Beryl Markhams excellent book "West with the night". Another source is the book about Markham "Straight on till morning".
You can also read Karen Blixens books, "Out of Africa" and "Letters from Africa 1914-1931"
When I was a kid i met Bror Blixen once since he was a friend of my father.
If you want more information feel free to contact me by e-mail

<Harry>Baron Blixen..the man whom women loved. By Ulf Aschan
Well, I have the book and I bought it at the Holland and Holland booth at some show in Vegas.
I have looked both front and back for a ISBN # or the address of the publisher etc. and there is nothing! Strange.
Maybe Holland and Holland can help.
Great book.
