Finch-Hatten's tracker/gun bearer
Please settle an argument. Who was Finch-Hatten's head tracker or gun bearer depicted in "Out of Africa"? Was the name of this man historically correct or just made up for the movie? Thanks. MMP

Did that guy die before Denys or with him in the planecrash ? Kamau/Hamisi was the servant that died with him in planecrash.

I just bought a book with Beryl Markham, west with the night. (She is Felicity in Out of Africa) She had a affair with Denys at the time of his death and was actually invited on that planetrip. Looks to be a great read this summer.

Out of Africa is a great movie!

I believe it was made up for the movie. I will re-visit my Finch-Hatton book and double check.

Anton, you will love West with the NIght. It is, on my opinion, one of the best written books I have read. It truly is poetic in its rhythms.

Did you know that JA Hunter is the one who drove Finch_Hatton's remains back to Karen Blixen?

If Beryl had gone and been flying, the crash might well not have happened.

That's an interesting idea lavaca. On the other hand we might not have West with the night. It's a pity Finch hatton did not keep journals and whatnot. His erudite personality would have been interesting to know first hand.
