beware scam

I and a few other outfitters I know got this email;

Hello!
I'm sorry you're getting the mail from me at this Point in time,my family and I came down here to Istanbul,Turkey for a short vacation unfortunately we were mugged at the park of the hotel we stayed,all cash credit cards and cell were stolen off but luckily for us we still have our passports with us.

I have been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and our flight leaves pretty soon from now but we're having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills.Please be so kind to reply back so I can tell you what to do and how to get some cash to us.

I'm freaked out at the moment

People from Orting, Washington don't say something like, "our flight leaves pretty soon from now". And they are unlikely to describe paying bills as "settling bills".

Some asked me months later when they ran into me how I got out and when I said I never left they acted relieved

The saying Friend in the need ... Is still uncomfortable for some, which then makes them aquintances rather then friends

I answered one of those years ago and sent the cash to them. Don't know if they could spend Monopoly money where ever they were but I felt compelled. Would have sent Zim dollars as well had I had some. Just the Christian thing to do.

yup they did this to me a few years back , had they not picked one of my most wealthy hunters and a bloke who never asks for help , they may well have caught me as they hacked his email and left out just one letter in the email address so it was difficult not to think it was a genuine call for help , just watched a program that states cyber crime is bigger in south africa than all the other crimes put together - bigger than drug or gun running
