Has anyone hunted Piti west and/or Chunya east?
What did you think? Also, what time of the year?

BwanamichLarry,
while I have not hunted or been in either of those areas, I have heard quite a lot about them and all was positive. They contain good concentration of game especially good quality sable and cats.
Probably the best time to hunt there - and this applies generally to most of Tanzania - is between end of August and beginning of October. A bit cooler around August while Mid October can bring afternoon thunder showers.
I can say this; Danny McAllum is a very good outfitter from the old school with tons of experience throughout East africa. A real gentleman and great safari companion. You will not be dissapointed hunting through him!
Larry,
I came very close to booking this area with Danny McCallum Safaris. The only reasons I didn't were a lack of quota left on sable & hippo for the time period available and the cost of the charter.
The safari area, company's reputation and that of professional hunter Boetie Bothma were outstanding. It was a hunt I really wanted.
