LorenzoElephant hunters-Men of Legend by Tony Sanchez Ariño
Have anyone read it?
It's great!!!!!
All about the ol' african ivory hunters.
I highly reccomend it

Plenty of history and good stories, the author must be the last one still alive of a gone for ever era.
One of the best books about the history of ivory trade, elephant hunting and ol' time hunters I've ever seen.

<allen day>I'll have to purchase a copy.
Tony Sanchez-Arino is a true legend, one of my favorite African authors, and I am proud to say that I own several of his books. Jorge and I had the privilage of spending some time visiting with him at SCI one year, and it was one of those occasions that I'll never forget.

GeronomoOne other thing about Tony Sanchez, he is a very good writer. Of all the books I've read by African hunters, and there have been many, his are the most fluid and well written of them all. No grandiose embellishments of tall tales. A very enjoyable reconteur.

458RugerNo1OK fellas, I'm intrigued... Which of his books would you consider the "best" of his series to begin with?
I'm just about finished with John Taylor's last book - "Maneaters and Marauders" so have read all four of them now and will need to have some more "suggested reading" to look forward to. I've enjoyed Taylor's books immensely so am looking for things of this "caliber" to follow.
Not just limited to Arino of course, what would you fellas suggest? I'm thinking of "Horned Death" by John Burger as one of my next reads.

jorgeI didn't know the book was out yet. As Allen alluded to, we met Tony at SCI some a couple of years back and I've managed to get two of his books autographed. He is such a smooth and polished gent, I would enjoy going with him on safari, I'm assuming the book is available through Safari Press? jorge

ELEPHANT HUNTERS, MEN OF LEGENDAnybody read his 2001 book "
ELEPHANTS, IVORY, AND HUNTERS"? Desc says "This is the revised and updated edition of On the Trail of the African Elephant, the most thorough book ever written on the African elephant from a hunter's point of view."

jorgeGeronomo: Yes I read the book and it was most enjoyable. If you ever attend the SCI Convention, you ought to make it a point to find Tony out and introduce yourself. He is truly a great gent! jorge
