I got this e-Mail today

I write to you from overcast and stormy skies in Africa. At this time, most of the continent’s hunting is over, through a few continue into our rainy season. By all accounts, it has been a fair year for hunters, in spite of a kaleidoscope of factors and challenges facing us.

In particular, here in Zimbabwe, the year has been one of our most challenging, only surpassed by our historic melt-down between 2005 and 2008.
As our banking system collapses and money only exists as a number on a piece of paper, we face challenges maintaining and servicing foreign printing and mailing costs. With a hyper-inflation and black market operating again, business planning is all but impossible.

Although we faced seemingly impossible challenges under Mr. Mugabe’s rule, and we welcome change - any kind of change - the events of the last month and in particular the last two weeks, demand extreme caution in business planning. While we are hopeful there will be a settling period followed by what we hope will be a definitive road map early in the new year, Zimbabwe and our economy remains in a state of flux.

As such, we have taken the unprecedented decision to suspend all publishing for the remainder of the year. We estimate that by March 2018 we hope to have a sense of what the future holds, and will revisit our business planning at that stage. As such, I expect we will not publish another issue before June 2018.

The last issue to be published was Issue 109, the cover of which appears on this letter.

To our valued subscribers, people who have shown the most heartfelt support over the years, I thank you and apologise for our intermittent publishing schedule over the last year and this break in production now. Any inconvenience is sincerely regretted.
