Do a search for "Scrum cap bull" or "scrum cap".

You'll find at least one in the hunt report forum.

You are correct sir!

I saw someone pass one up on one of the African hunting shows, might have been Tracks Across Africa.

Edit:

Here is the buff:

And here is the report.

Of course this is not a "one-off" but a "scrum cap" with both broken off.

Charles,

That must be a very old animal. Any guess as to age? What a boss!

Sorry, I guess I was not clear -- that is 500grains buff pictured in his report that I gave the link to. Maybe he can tell us how old he thinks it was. Personally I think it makes a very interesting trophy and I do wish it was mine!

I do not have any idea how old that buff was, although my impression is that it is not as old as another scrum cap I saw a few years ago. His horns were worn down to little nubs with a gnarly boss in between.

A scrum cap bull from Mana Pools, Zimbabwe. Both sides were the same as you see here.

I think I remember that picture from your hunt report. Looks like he is not far from becoming lion food there.

That's why I was facinated by him. A real old emaciated old bugger. He's clearly on his last legs (he didn't even bother to get up, even though I was in a canoe only meters from him). He was out on a small island, presumably to avoid predators. Which was a good thing, because a pride of lions passed right by his little island that very night (and continued on thru our camp).
