dougaboyBoddington on Leopard
I finished watching the video over the weekend and thought that it was excellent. Dawson is really the star of the show. I was not at all bored. They spend lots of time talking about all aspects of leopard hunting and are very informative. Sort of like a expanded version of Dawson's earlier "He's in the tree" video.
As to the complaint about commercials I just don't get it. Yes, the buffalo video had too much even though I still liked it. This one has some product placement, but no real commercials. Heck, he even used a bullet that is not yet available. I think that they learned from the earlier complaints.
The real commercial was for Andrew Dawson as he seems to be an amazing leopard Ph. I think that anyone who wants to hunt leopard will like this video.

Was it a useful supplement to
He's In the Tree or more repetitive? I will probably end up with both but already own and enjoyed Mr. Dawson's DVD.

Pete ECharles,
I have both the DVD's you mention...I think "He's in the Tree" is a better DVD, and some of the footage from that is used in the Boddington DVD.
Having said that, I really enjoyed the Boddington DVD and don't regret buying it at all..

Pete

dougaboyI agree with Pete E. Dawson's was tighter and had more action. Boddington almost gets in the way of Dawson telling his techniques. But, the discussions are longer and more detailed. There were things in Boddington's that were not in Dawson's. I am glad that I have both.

Thanks for the response and the insight. For reasons I cannot understand, the title of the first DVD alone is enough to send my wife and oldest daughter into gales of laughter, but I really enjoyed it. It sounds like there will be enough in Boddington's to make it worthwhile.
Now if I could just decide what to hunt next and what to give up to finance it...

hikerbumI have seen Boddingtons Buffalo video and found it very informative. He is not an actor so he may come across as dry at times, but I think he does a good job. The advertising for that video and what advertising I have seen for the Leopard video comes across as being an informative video from a learnign standpoint, but also showing footage of the hunt. It appears many of the complaints above are saying they did not like it because it did exactly what it was advertised to do. I would think people got what they should have expected. I think hunting footage is great at times, but quite often is staged by many of the macho type video producers. If that is what you want, then study the advertisements and buy accordingly. In my opinion, it sounds like Boddginton gave people what he promised. Personally I look forward to seeing the Leopard vid.
