Rich ElliottLowest Mounts for CZ 550
I posted this under Gunsmithing but there are a lot of knowledgable CZ owners on this forum so....
Which is lower..the QD Talley mount or the QD Warne mount?

Sitting here waiting on my Leupold 1.5x5 to arrive (won a new one on Ebay

) and staring at Brownell's "out of stock" label on medium Warne QDs for CZs......such is life. The newest addition to my gun safe, my "chipmunk" gun (.375 H&H CZ 550), will just have to go "naked" for a while.
At least the nefarious Nebraska chipmunks are now hibernating, so I won't have to stop a charge with it....

goosejoeHi Guys!
I've recently acquired a CZ 550 American Safari in 375 and was advised by another forum member to get some Talley mounts. They make one specifically for this rifle. I was going to mount a Leupold Vari-III in 1.5x5x20mm on this rifle. The dealer had one on the shelf he wanted to get rid of and made me a semi-decent deal on the scope. Anyhow I called Talley's and Dave Talley answered, I told him what I needed and he said give me your credit card number and I'll have one at your house in 3 days. Well it really only took 2 days, we picked the rifle and scope up, went to my Dad's (he has a bore sighter from his sport shop days) We mounted everything up and coudln't believe how well everything looks! I am more than pleased with how the rifle turned out, that 1.5x5 Leupold really looks good on that rifle and the Talley QD rings work flawlessly. Now if I have any trouble when we start shooting this rig I'll let you know, but frankly I'll be very surprised if we do.
So if I was going to make a suggestion it would be to call Talley's and get the rings made specifically for CZ 550's. Hope this helps.

Rich Elliottgoosejoe,
I just ordered a set of Talleys for a .416 Rigby CZ 550. I plan to use that same scope you have on the rifle but wondered about it mounting far enough forward to provide adequate eye relief. I crawl the stock quite a bit. The 14" length of pull may help with that problem.
