StealthHusband & Wife Hunting Plains Game - Tag Hides/Heads with One Name or Two?
My wife and I are going on our first safari in August, plains game in South Africa. We have been reading the forum for months now, educating ourselves and just getting immersed in Africana before we depart. Today we came across a question that we haven't seen addressed before. We're sure some of the knowledgeable forum members can answer it.
We'll both be shooting on this safari and originally had thought we'd just tag each animal in our own names. As we've studied the regulations and hunters' experiences shipping trophies back to the USA and clearing customs, it occurred to us that we might end up doubling our shipping costs by using two names, even though we're husband and wife living at the same address. But then we wondered whether there was any law/regulation in South Africa that prevented our tagging all animals in one name. We did ask Coppersmith for their advice and they just said they'd handle it either way.
Surely someone on the forum has gone through this and knows the answer. Thank you all in advance for your replies and for all that you've already taught us.

L. David KeithYou can do it either way, but have all paperwork in order. If it were you and a friend hunting, both of you would need separate lists for each persons game. You can still combine shipments in one crate. Since it's you and your wife, you could put all animals on one list, but in essence your not following the guidelines and could be breaking laws. My advice is to play it safe: have separate lists for both of you. You can still combine shipping into one shipment (no matter what they tell you in RSA). If you need help in the matter, you are welcome to give me a call. Good hunting and enjoy your safari, LDK

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

Fallow BuckMy freind and I shipped both of out trophies tomy house as it cut the shipping cost in half.
Do you know who you will be usuing for the taxidermy? A quick phone call should get you the answer you need. The returns list that we filled out at the end of the huunt was seperate to the taxidermy papers, so there shouldn't be a problem with what you want ot do.
