OK, I have read alot of what is here on Africa. I have read and reread Terry's posts.

I think that I have narrowed it down to a first time plains game hunt in Namibia. Have made a wish list of game that I would like to take.

Still not sure which Ph or outfitter to go with. Or when in our summer would be the best time to go.

If anyone has any other suggustions please let me know.

Thank T.A.

What is on your wish list? How long do you want to hunt? What type of hunt do you want (ranch with lodge and pool, conservancy with tents, etc.)?

T.A.,

May, June, July, August are best months for hunting. I normally hunt in August. I'll have some info your way shortly.

T.A.,

Don't forget to consider budget. The first time its nice to speak with a variety of outfitters. These folks will supply you with tons of info. Chose someone you feel comfortable doing busisess with.

Once you have made your decision, chosen an outfitter and arranged the hunt, get your rifle (or bow) out and start practising. These professionals will take it the rest of the way.

After you have this first safari under your belt, you may feel a bit more inclined to be more adventurous for the next, becasue you'll have at least some minimal experience and you'll know what you like and don't like.

Namibia was my first hunt also and I enjoyed it very much.

Never been to Namibia, but I have hunted RSA. It seems that, with the right outfitter, you can probably get more of the African experience in Nambia. RSA is quite developed and modern, so IMHO it doesn't have the feel of being very remote.

Terry

I ,like some of the others here, have got myself pretty well enamored with Namibia. The hunting is great, the country peaceful, the cost is lower than most other countries. All in all ,a great spot to hunt.

I have hunted twice now with Antonie Loew of Makalaan Safaris and would heartily reccommend these folks.Great to be around and they have put me on some fantastic trophies.I am booked to go back next August with a couple of friends who are first timers.

Nothing I can add. I got back from my first hunt in June. It will change your life forever. Enjoy every moment. Before you get back you will already be planning your next hunt.

I hunt, not to kill, but in order not to have played golf....

I'm sure you've read the many reports from members here who have been to Namibia this year. You might think about which type of hunt most interested you. Also, not all animals will be equally available in all areas, so you might let us know what you want to hunt and what is most important.

Good luck and enjoy the planning process.

I am in the same boat. Planning 1st trip for next year. I am thinking Tanzania. However Robert Johnson posted About a wonderful hunt in Nambia. https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6321043/m/924104582

So I am looking there as well. Now I am just confused. Like others I want it all so like you
I am looking everywhere. Best of luck and who knows, we may find ourselves in the same place a year from now as I have to go in our summer as well. All info welcome.
