Fallow BuckGun range in Vegas.
Can anyone reccomend a range in Vegas where I can go and practice shooting some hand guns next week?
I'm not interested in all the black guns but am on a bit of a mission to get good with a sidearm, so some instruction would also be good.

TexKDI will send a note to a couple of my buds who live there and get back to you. But there are two or three quite good ones close to The Strip, and even on the Strip, with all the rental guns and instruction and online booking and even full auto lol. Look at The Range 702 in the meantime and see what you think.

Use Enough GunI also live in Vegas. For outdoor shooting Clark County has a fairly new world class shooting complex at the north end of the Las Vegas Valley. That's where I go to shoot. It is a big place. There is an outdoor shooting range out near Boulder City as well, but I think most people shoot at the Clark County Shooting Complex. It has separate ranges for handguns, rifles, sporting clays, skeet, archery, etc. etc. Google it up. There are plenty of indoor ranges as well including ranges at The Gun Store, The Range 702, American Shooters, Strip Gun Club, Gun Garage, Discount Firearms and Ammo, Shoot Las Vegas, Machine Guns Vegas, etc. etc. etc.

Fallow BuckThanks guys. Most of the places I saw that rent guns in Vegas are $120+ for ten rounds in a 1911...
Some show unspecified local rates.

Use Enough GunWe have a ton of tourists, especially from Japan and parts of Europe, that flock to many of the shooting ranges to rent and shoot machine guns and other fully automatic weapons and handguns. They absolutely love to have their pics and a video taken of them doing so. They then take the pics and video back home to show all of the folks in their countries, where guns are either illega or impossible to own, or very difficult to own. I guess it must be a "must have" or "must do" part of their Vegas experience.

724wdI shot at The Gun Store for my first full auto experience. It was a blast! (pun intended)
then i went to the Range 702 and it blew The Gun Store away! (pun intended again...)
The Range 702 was very clean, the staff friendly and knowledgeable, and the selection of weapons to shoot enough to keep me interested.

Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

UEG, I can see how it is worth while for those guys and how if it was such a novelty it might be fun.
What does a box of 50 45's cost these days to buy over the counter?

Use Enough GunK: Depending on the brand, grains and type of 45 ACP ammo you're looking for, a box of 50, from around $14-15 for the really cheap fmj type and on up for the jhp and personal defense ammo.

However, that's not necessarily the over the counter price at gun shops.

PSmithIt won't work for this time, but there's a place about 45 minutes from Vegas called Front Sight in Pahrump NV. They have training for rifles and handguns, rent guns, sell ammo etc. I go there before or after SCI, and sometimes other times during the year. It's a membership sort of place so you have to register for the classes etc. Maybe next year would work for you if you go to SCI regularly.

Fallow BuckThanks guys.
I'll try some of the local ones and see if they can do something outside of the tourist packages for me.

Kiri, How long are you in the states for? Are you going to hit any other states?

larryshoresWe shot last year at the place near Boulder City. I will check the name.
I was impressed with the facility and the staff there. We had a super nice young man who knew what he was going.
They have a wide variety of pistols, rifles, shotguns and automatic weapons. We shot:
1- MP-5 (fully auto)
2- SAW (fully auto)
3- 308 sniper rifle ( at least they said it was)
4- Barrett 50 cal sniper rifle at 1,000 yards.
I am going next week, largely to shoot the Barrett at 1,000 yards. Damn that was fun.
They had many pistols available. I didn't shoot any. I suck with pistols on the best of days. I can shoot at the ground 3 times with a pistol and miss twice. I saw no need to pay for that humiliation.

Bwana_500When I was in the US with my son 18 months ago, I was trying to find a place that would rent an AR15 to an 8 year old.
I ended up at American Shooters. They had a decent range of stuff to hire, prices were reasonable, and they seemed like a decent bunch of guys. I would go back there again.
