Brokerage firms
I would like a recommendation for a brokerage firm to assist with the importation of trophies from Zim. Fauna and Flora was recommended to me, but to say they have been unresponsive and unprofessional thus far would be an understatement. Any other recommendations? Thanks, CC

If you can get to the F&W office's area, you can imprt them yourself. I clear all of my shipments here in Anchorage. Never used a brokerage firm as the only thing that does is add to the price.

Not always true at all locations.
I recently tried everything I could to clear my skulls and hides myself at Denver, no luck. The USF&WS informed me that it is mandatory that I use a broker and that the items ship un opened from the airport to a taxidermist on their approved list to perform the inspection service that the USF&WS will show up an approve.
The USF&WS informed me that if the trophys were already finished (mounted) that I could then clear them myself.
I used Gallagher Transport Int'l and was pleased with their service but not very pleased that I couldn't clear them myself.

I contacted US Customs in Seattle and they told me it shouldn't be any problem for me to clear my own Trophies. That was for a Cape Buffalo. I will ask them about Clearing a Leopard while I am there. Last shipment I had the Taxidermist pick them up and I believe they charged me $175.00 for it.

You should be able to do it yourself at any Airport of Entry. If you have primates or hogs of any kind, however, no go, you must be licensed and they bring in a Vet to inspect before release.
Otherwise, the clearance was $30 last time I did it...and it is $90 for a commercial broker for openers plus their fees. 8 animals took me about 30 minutes to fill out the paperwork. That was SEAT TAC airport, Seattle.

Cheers,

Coppersmith, they sorted a mess I had with Delta. My trophies were in Atlanta but Delta could not even tell where they were and was charging me storage.
