And RIP, only 7.46 lbs. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it.

Walter ProciukNice piece. Could you please elaborate on the work. For instance the bolt has been tastefully altered. There are two cross bolts reinforcing the action bedding. And where did you get that peep sight? A nice touch indeed. What else was done and who dunnit?

I can empathise with your feelings. Nice wood.

ozhunterNice Rifle Will.
I'm sure you could reduce the weight even more if you shortened the fore end another inch or two and thinned out the bottom of the grip.
Will,
Congrats..... beautiful rifle!!

Will,
Congratulations on your immediate success.
Relation to African Hunting:
Will will never be caught with this hanging uselessy from a sling when the elephant charges.
Don't change a thing!

Nice rifle Will.
I bought the new Reminton mauser in 458. It was a little rough but cleaned up well. The only problem is that it dosen't like Federal TBBCs. It won't feed well. If the magazine is full, it feeds fine until the last one, than it hangs up. If I feed one at a time, it hangs up. It'll feed barnes triple shocks fine.
One more thing to work on when I get back.

Very, very nice Will. Makes me look at my factory CZ 416 differently. Details please.

R.JollyHey Will, what happened to your love affair with your 470 double?

dirklawyerWill you need to put that pig on a diet, get the rasp and file out, nice rifle even if it's a bit too heavy.

MikelravyThe stock looks nicely set up to use iron sights, but the butt angle seems quite short to me. How does it fit? Have you shot it yet? What kind of sights did you use?
It's beautiful, congratulations, but I would love to have one in the calibre 416 Rigby. I think that rifles are very robust, affordable and lifelong. Enjoy a lot.

Oscar.

shootawayNice rifle Will!
Fine looking weapon even if the bolt is on the wrong side.
No sling attachments?
I guess this was resurrected from the dead.
It is a CZ 550 Medium with a modified/refinished hogback stock, as others have done. It is amazing what is under some of those sprayed-on finish CZ stocks.
It has a 22" McGowan barrel, with a lug, and a NECG front sight and peep. Going back to add a NECG rear sight also.
Turned out pretty nice I think.

Is that the normal amount of down pitch for your rifles? Looks excessive to me.
It (drop at heel) is unchanged from the CZ hogback from which it came; much revered in some camps and scorned in others.

chuck375Yeah that forged square bridged magnum length receiver really sucks, unlike the investment cast Ruger and MIM Winchester parts we know and love.
