Camo Stocks?
I have heard that there are countries in Africa that do not allow Camo clothing. What would they think of Camo Synthetic Stocks? Would that be allowed? What countries have these "no Camo" laws?? I am mounting one because I like the look of a camo stock for this rifle.

Thanks

I have carried camo stocked rifles in Zim, Zambia and Namibia and I don't believe it is an issue in the rest of East or Southern Africa. I've also found that camo clothing as long as it does not have a military look is not given a second glance. Sadie and I both wore camo in Botswana, RSA and Tanzania. Having said that though I would get your safari operators view before packing.

Regards,

Mark

Riodot, I don't think you will have a problem with your cammo stock. Cammo clothing is takeing a chance, however, as some of the game rangers in some place shoot, and then ask if you are a poacher, if you are wearing cammo, in an area that contains Rhino. The combination of a cammo rifle, "AND" cammo clothing, my be a bit much! I think the rifle will be OK, but I never wear any cammo clothing in Africa, or any place else, other than in a duck blind, if I can help it.

This is one of my pet peeves! There are so many very well designed hunting cloths, but they are only available in cammo. I think the manufacturers would sell a lot more of their product if they were also offered in hunter green, gray and/or khaki. As long as you don't use stark white, any color is fine as far as the animals are concerened. Animals are spooked more by the human voice, movement, light flashing from a shiny stock,and/or barrel steel or matalic sounds, than color. Most mammals, other than primates, only see shades of gray! a totally gray 8 ton elephant can stand still 15 feet away in bush, and unless he moves you will not see him, and he doesn't wear cammo cloths. I wore camo in South Africa, no problems. The PH's really liked some of the new patterns. I don't think it gives any advantage as far as the game being able to see you. I wear it because it is my well broken in hunting wear that I use in the states and it is quiet and comfortable. We also plan on bringing a camo stocked rifle on our next trip. I am sure there will be no problems.

There is no problem with camo stocks in Tanzania. Here's my son from a month ago with a thomson's gazelle and a camo .300WM:
