SaeedI won’t bother reading it.
I am sure it’s lopsided!

crbutlerLots of mays and coulds.
It did confirm that hunting is not a negative if managed properly.
Their statements are in the conflict killing that hunting typically stops because the locals see value with the animals.
Yes, if the hunters screw up badly consistently, the killing of underage cats will cause both loss of genetic diversity and cause issues with populations.
Frankly, either way of development of quota has been shown to work - limit offtake to sustainable (old style) or only allow older post pride aged (6 years) lions to be hunted.
Frankly, since the 6 year rule was implemented, I’ve seen more and subjectively better lions than before… but the offtake has been a fraction of what it used to be.

lavacaMost frustrating words I ever heard after tracking a lone male lion for some time, bumping him several times to his vociferous protests, being up on the sticks and watching him about to step into an endless sea of grass, was "I think he's six."
I let him walk.

This is true and is the result of being over wary of that uncertain difference of a few months which would legally qualify the animal to be killed.
The whole process is shrouded in mystery and somewhat controversial as all skulls are subject to x-rays and in the event of default, no substantiating evidence is provided as you are basically being given a tick or a cross leaving you pondering over the age of a lion that appeared to have all the legal requisites.

SaeedAll these so called studies are totally pointless waste of money.
Some idiot is trying to make a name for himself, wasting donations from well meaning people.
Reminds me of the one getting a university degree on how to make the perfect sandwich!
Or Kim Kardashian advising others of what type of filler she adds to her arse!

Oh they are not wasting them, they are earning their living from them!
Just another form of grifting, find a tough problem that pulls on the heart strings, raise money, and come up with round after round of ineffectual 'solutions' that are doomed to fail but are always on the cusp of success if only you could get just a few dollars more. The very last thing you would ever want is to solve the problem as then your meal ticket would disappear.
I've got to run now. I have to submit my grant application for my combined elephant, panda, koala, and baby seal breading programs and my proposed training center where I teach carnivores to become vegan before releasing them back into the wild to live in harmony with nature. That should be worth a few grants, degrees, book contracts, rounds on the talk show circuits, highly paid speaking engagements, etc.

But what an experience and that would make for fine hunting
