K EvansIan: I would hesitate to say whether the person that contacted you is legitimate as DSC "had" a contract with an outside company to sell advertising. He is not affiliated with DSC. If you are interested in advertising in one of the DSC publications, the best thing to do would be to either call the DSC office (972-980-9800) or, since you are in South Africa send an email to the address on our website. Or PM me if you have any questions.

Venture SouthThanks Karl
I once got taken for 10k so am now very cautious of any transactions that are not face to face or with very good references.
I will contact the organization directly.
Thanks for your assistance.

Wendell ReichCould have worked for "Multi-view" or "The Safari Marketplace". Those guys work the DSC list pretty hard when it comes to seeking advertising $.

K EvansWendell is 100% correct and they are very aggressive, often calling several times per week. They are NOT affiliated with DSC.

What exactly is the connection? They make you think they are part of DSC, or talk as if they are contracted by DSC. So, what is the story?
I have resisted the urge to tell them to go pound sand in the past. They leave messages asking me to call them back, not letting me know I am walking into a sales call.
It is never the same person calling. Always a different salesman. Maybe their turnover is high.

Venture SouthIt was a very hard sales pitch. Also said he was calling from DSC.
He was offering convention bookings as well as Safari Marketplace.
One of his sales pitches was that the average spend through the marketplace was over 25k US. I found this a bit hard to swallow but maybe you guys know better. Unless they are selling exclusively DG based hunts there is no way they get to those figures. Either that or a few Million dollar safaris went through the books.
Anyway, I think I will just let him know I will deal with DSC directly
Thanks for all the help

Matt GrahamOften calling at 3.00am. This has been happening for quite a while and I have complained to DSC before. I did get an apology in the past.

Bull shit. They have no way of knowing. They sell advertising, not safaris.

oakmanDSC does not contact you for advertising. the guy that contacted you was with another advertising firm and if you advertise with them, you will place a ad on DSC directory and very few will ever see your ad and you could place your advertising dollars else where with better results.
they call me from time to time and I always check it out and later tell them no thanks....
