FWIW, .308” diameter 220 grain Nosler partitions are known to often shoot well from 303’s, even though they are a good bit undersized.

This might be a dumb question since I'm not a double rifle guy, but it looks like the letter says extra safety, what is the purpose of that?

It’s called a stalking safety. It’s a secondary safety in front of the standard safety that prevents it from accidentally being released.its quite visible on the photo of the top lever.
A cool feature, but not a great idea on a DG rifle, which this is not.
Great to see it going to Africa and doing its business. A great caliber for a stalking rifle.

Tim, been on the road in a classic musclecar to Carlisle PA for a big Chryler show since tue. am. Got here last night and we are going to the P/O with your package as we speak. Plenty of time, Lee. I'll be using what I have at the range near Warrenton, VA tomorrow. JJ did a fine job on the .303 barrels and an RMR06 sits just butted up against the back sight.

We'll see how it shoots with my favorite load that gives about 2125 fps for the 215 gr Woodleigh.

What a great double....truth be known the 303 Brit is a very capable cartridge...I have a sister to yours fully engraved and no case...I wish I had a case with an H&H makers label!! Friend of mine owns 5 various makers 303 Brit double rifles...and wants mine when I decide to let it go!!

I wish you well on your safari....and will be looking for a report and pix when you get back!!

FYI, my go to factory rounds are Federal 180gr and they group well. I would love to know your load when you return....I may cook some up as well...a double rifle shoot in Central Oregon is coming up.

You might try Huntington Die Specialties, Oroville CA as a stocking Woodleigh Bullet dealer many don't think of...

BTW they also have Graeme Wright and Geoff Macdonald's new Woodleigh Bullet Loading Manual in stock... I just ordered two. Graeme's SHOOTING THE BRITISH DOUBLE RIFLE is out of print and sold out except at extortion prices....he is thinking 4th Edition, but last night I encouraged a second printing of 3rd Edition!!

Known as a bolted safety. Not everyone would admit it, but the purpose was to avoid negligent discharge by the gun-bearer. Once in the hunter's hands it was normally flicked over.
