Kgabu report
Sometime ago I had mentioned a venue in Botswana named Kgabu which could boast some very impressive Kudu and hunting at very favourable rates.

Although hunting in Botswana is under fence species such as Kudu are pretty much free range.

Some pics of a couple of AR members who took up this opportunity to hunt on foot alongside bushmen trackers in Kalahari sands.

Nice kudu! 7,000 hectares is basically 17,500 acres and that amount of land hunted properly will be as challenging as you'll find anywhere. We hunted a 10,000 acre property near Bulawayo on foot a few years ago for a couple of zebra. We walked our asses off.

Thanks for the report Andrew!

Just to add on to Andrew’s post for those AR members who might be interested to join us for a safari at Kgabu.

The main attraction at Kgabu is definitely the quality of kudu and eland bulls we hold! The area is a semi-arid sweet-veld area which means the grazing/browsing quality is exceptional, combine this with some world class genetics from a massive gene pool(the area was only recently fenced in due to Botswana regulations) and you have the recipe for some really world class kudu. We only started hunting the area about 2 years ago which means there has not yet been a lot of hunting pressure and the really once in a life time trophies are there to be found !

The best way to visit us would be to fly to Maun and the lodge is then a hour and a half transfer time from Maun. There is normally two direct flights a day from Johannesburg to Maun. The drive from Maun to the farm is a pleasant one, is only about 100 km's but takes you on some sand tracks towards the Central Kalahari National Park with a good change of spotting some predators and other game along the way.

In addition to the kudu and eland have really good wildebeest and red hartebeest. Other species such as zebra, gemsbuck, warthog etc are also available.

The area is wild and is big game country, elephants pass through from time to time and leopard and lion are plentiful!. Accommodation is in thatched tented chalets, raised with a wooden deck approximately 1.5m high overlooking a waterhole. The sounds and sights from your tent at night is truly amazing and leopard sightings in the late afternoon is normally frequent.

Very good suggestions. In southern Africa you won't see much unfenced land but if it's big enough it's the real deal.
