Mich,

Lovely! My first clients of the year for Tanazania just left the Crater. Their comment was "F-----g Awesome". Plus all the regular stuff they saw lions kill and eat a zebra 15 yards from the photo car. I describe the Crater experience as living in a National Geographic special. It is awesome!

Okay, I have never hunted Cape Buffalo before, probably will never get the chance.

Let us say however, that I did get the chance, and my first shot opportunity was at a bull such as this one, at say 75 yards, standing in that exact position.

I am using my 375 H&H, with the first round a 300 grain Solid, followed by a Barnes "X", followed by another Solid.

Now having never shot at one of these little darlings before, how big a screw up will I make, if I put that first solid, about one inch in front of that place on the near shoulder that looks like a small pox shot?

The place I am looking at is the round, whitish looking circle scar, that is about a foot below the bottom curve of his horn.

Would that break his shoulder and possibly do some damage to the heart/lungs?

If he went down at the shot, should my next shot be in the same approximate area or slightly behind the foreleg maybe an inch or two higher.

I plan on shooting that sumbich till he ain't moving, with my third shot, the second solid, my plan, if it presents its self is to break the off shoulder, and get him off his front legs.

Is my plan pure bsflag

, or would that take an animal like that down?

Dont necessary there are plenty Bulls of this size around in Kitangare

I don't believe I saw that technique on Boddington on Buffalo.

Funny thing is, when you tell people who have toured these parks that you are going to hunt cape buffalo, they think all you have to do is drive the truck up along side these guys and shoot

Just follow the centerline of the right leg up, and put your bullet half way between the horn curve and the line of the chest.
I promise you, he won't go far after that.

Saeed's POA is just about where I was talking about.

Just my thought on the aim point, and the most dangerous thing I have hunted is a Javelina, my Musk Ox just stood there looking at me.

I think or feel, that on any animal, if a certain, instant kill, DRT shot is questionable, for whatever reason, then my next choice is to go for an anchoring shot or one that will take away all or the major part of the critters mobility.

I always figgered that trying to completely shatter the bone would be, or is, preferrable to trying to slip the bullet past the bone and run the risk of hitting the edge of the bone and sending the bullet off course.

Again, that is just my opinion.
