My new 500NE cartridge belt
Being from Texas, I like the belt as well. As mentioned above, quite a bit of work went into tooling it. Looks like it could have come from Big Bend Saddle Shop in Alpine... one of my favorite places to hang around and waste time in. Thumbs up from me Shootaway.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
- Rudyard Kipling

Life grows grim without senseless indulgence.

Been wearing that pair of 8X30 Swarovski's for 20 years from the Rockies to the Zambezi Valley...my ball's are still doing fine. But...thank you for your concern about them. If my balls do have issues...I will PM you for advice about them.

Lane- Point taken! Sorry you miss it.

Next time at the bar and up for a round of drinks you can at least have the privilege of saying: "the high balls are on me" animal

Anyone using leather for shell belts.
Make sure you don't leave them in the loops
too long. They tend to draw moisture and WILL
deteriorate the cases.
I found some nickle coated that had to be tossed
out and that's inside the house where it's seldom
over 20% humidity. Brass is even worse and quicker.

The last pistol rig I had made up. For loops I had the guy use that elastic strap they use for boot top pulls. Had them made for .30 carbine ammo and they'll stretch enough to hold .300Win/s.
I also learned the lesson with that belt that 4" wide is TOO WIDE for the back section. Had to cut it down to about 3", now it's just right.

As you're wearing the wide part in front that might not get in your way. I'd sure recommend you wear it around home all day for a week and see how well it works out before making a hunt counting on it then finding out it won't work as planned.
Best of luck, it's a fine piece of work imo.

While I never carried that much spare ammo I like the belt. The quality looks to be outstanding. All I would do is cut the quantity, not the shape. I always wore my spares off to the right side since I'm right handed. I used Boyt slipons as shown in my avatar.

My taste run planer, but that is a very well done piece of work Shootaway. If it suits you then it is perfect.

I suspect the chemicals used in tanning also affect the brass.

What Saeed said, almost. I use two canvas slip ons that my wife made for me. They hold six apiece and work for either the 45-110 Sharps with its 2 7/8 inch case or the 45-70.

I stay away from leather for a couple of reasons. One is that it creaks and is noisy. Another is that it smells after a while due to sweat, and the nature of leather, and last but not least, it will ruin cases due to the formation of verdigris. Canvas or nylon is much better than leather for real use in the field.
