80 pound elephant
Anybody know the story about this elephant?

I understand it was killed in the Selous and the unknown hunter was hunting with Gerald Pasanisi Safaris.

SBT,

That is correct information. The elephant was killed in 2003 by a Spanish hunter. I never got his name, nor have I seen it published. Don Causey had that photo on his site for a long time. Is that where you got it?

The ivory was eight feet long. Huge big teeth.

Edited to add: He used a Ruger in .416 Rigby.

Picture is kind of small, can anybody enlarge it? Jeez, long and symmetrical!

Looks like 72+ inches sticking out of its lip which give it an additional 24 + inches from lip back into skull..

Beautiful....

Wasn't that elephant reportedly shot in Mozambique?

Big elephant regardless.

Reportedly, maybe. In fact, no. On an immediately following 21 day safari, I hunted in the Selous with the PH who had guided this hunter to this elephant. Unfortunately, his luck did not hold, and mine ran out, on elephant anyway.

Here's a better photo:
