Buffalo kills villager

A 71-YEAR-OLD man from Tengwe in Hurungwe was gored to death by a buffalo as he collected clothing items that had been left by his wife when she fled from an earlier attack by the animal.

The wife, Mrs Senziya Dewe (45), who had been weeding in the fields, was attacked by the buffalo on her way home with her daughters Brenda (11) and Viola (12).

The daughters escaped unhurt while their mother was gored in the back but managed to run home and informed her husband.

The husband decided to go to the field to collect a baby towel and other items that had been scattered as the woman ran for dear life.

The buffalo, which was hiding in the bushes, emerged and charged at him and gored him. He died instantly.

The wife was taken to Karoi District Hospital where her condition was reportedly serious but stable.

Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Paul Nyathi has called for a concerted effort between the Parks and Wildlife Authority and communities with wild animals to ensure safety for people. — HR.

If you guys are going to speak of being "Gentleman" hunters at least you could keep your mouths shut when a innocent man is killed in front of his family.
