Mike,

We generally see eye to eye on most things -- .416's for example. And I get it that you don't like SSI and won't use them. That's your privilege and I can't fault you for your opinion. I don't think your disagreement needed to be raised on a public forum though.

For me, SSI offers a valuable service and I've been very satisfied. While you may find it unusual that I would pay for that service rather than "respond to a few emails and send a few wire transfers", doing so is a bit of an issue for me.

I know we are all busy, but I get a couple of hundred emails a day and my firm's spam filter grabs everything from Africa. So I miss them, unless I check. In the past, I'd have to find emails and send wires to a dip and pack company, a storage company, the shipping company, etc. Every time, I'd have to go to the bank and send another wire for another thousand or two. Takes time and delays when I miss an email.

SSI handled all that for me and it was well worth the price. My two cents. If you've got the time and the inclination to deal with all that hassle, more power to you. But I don't.

lavaca, I don't quibble with any man's choices in the free market. My only point is that equal or better service can be had from other customs brokers, and generally, for less money. Howdy Doody grossly inflates his firm's importance and the degree of assistance they provide, as compared to many others in the marketplace.

No matter who your broker may be, or how little he makes per hour, you still have to answer emails, provide a power of attorney and proof of identity and send wire transfers or write checks. Every broker must deal with CITES if your trophies include CITES animals.

And I am NOT the one who first raised the fact that I broke off any connection to him and his firm after he lied to my taxidermist about representing me. Howdy Doody himself brought that into the discussion, I am sure now much to his regret. He left out a key detail, which I could not let him get away with.

I will only deal with honest people, end of story.

Charl, I like your business model.

I think many hunters will appreciate a package deal. All costs and fees are on the table.

Very clear, convenient and commendable!

Thank you Mike,

I do believe I will get yelled at somewhere down the line, but at least the hunter KNOWS who is dealing with and working with right from the start. And me too! We will be rolling out the program in more detail by show season 2023. I first want to get my other 8 containers from 2022 sorted!
